Privacy policy

Last updated: 28 September 2026

This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it and how we look after it. It covers the GCSE Tutoring Club and murtztv.com.

Who we are

Murtz Education Ltd, trading as MurtzTV, is responsible for your information. We're registered in England & Wales (company no. 16778960) and with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). For any privacy question, email info@murtztv.com.

What we collect

When you sign up to the club:

  • the parent or guardian's name, email address and (optional) phone number
  • the student's name, year group and chosen plan
  • anything you choose to tell us in the notes box, such as current and target grades or special educational needs (SEND)

While your child is a member:

  • their Discord username and messages in the club server
  • work they submit and the feedback we give
  • attendance records
  • lesson recordings, which may include their voice or chat name if they unmute or type in a lesson
  • emails between you and us

Payments: invoices are paid through PayPal. We see your name, email and payment status, but never your card or bank details.

Buying on murtztv.com: our shop runs on Shopify. When you buy a revision guide, Shopify processes your name, email, billing details and order. Shopify also uses cookies to make the site work, remember your basket and show us basic, anonymous visitor statistics. You can control cookies in your browser settings.

Why we use it

  • To run the club: confirming places, sending invoices, giving access to lessons and Discord, marking work and giving feedback. We need this to provide the service you've signed up for.
  • To keep students safe: managing the Discord server and dealing with any safeguarding concerns.
  • To keep records: invoices and payments, as the law requires.
  • SEND information: only if you choose to share it, and only to adapt how we teach your child. You can ask us to delete it at any time.

We never sell your information, and we don't use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

Only the club's tutors (Mr Murtz and our DBS-checked maths tutor) can see student information. We also use these trusted services to run the club:

  • Shopify: website, shop and sign-up form
  • PayPal: invoices and payments
  • Discord: the private club server
  • Microsoft Teams and OneDrive: recording lessons and keeping the attendance register
  • Google (Gmail and Google Docs): emails and marking students' work

Some of these companies store data outside the UK. When they do, they use legal safeguards approved under UK data protection law.

How long we keep it

  • We delete a student's details 12 months after they leave the club.
  • We keep invoice and payment records for as long as the law requires (usually six years).
  • Lesson recordings stay in the members' library so current students can revise from them. If you'd like your child's voice or name removed from a recording, email us and we'll edit or remove it.

Children's information

Most of our students are under 18, so a parent or guardian signs them up and can manage their information. Students must be at least 13 to use Discord.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of the information we hold
  • correct anything that's wrong
  • delete your or your child's information
  • stop using it for a particular purpose

Email info@murtztv.com and we'll reply within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.

Keeping it safe

We keep information in password-protected accounts, and only the tutors can access student information.

Changes to this policy

If we make important changes, we'll update this page and email current members.
